Alex Pearce was sent off for after being adjudged to have fouled Wednesday striker Benik Afobe in the 10th minute of Saturday's game. Royals boss Nigel Adkins was unhappy with the decision from referee Keith Hill in his post-match press conference, claiming he'll "do everything he can to appeal it".
This was based on claims by some supporters that Afobe had gone down easily after an apparent shirt-pull by Irish international Pearce, and stronger shouts that Kaspars Gorkss was covering for his central defensive partner. A good view of the incident, and a comparison to Pavel Pogrebnyak's through-on-goal effort moments earlier, can be seen on Reading's YouTube video, below:
However, an FA hearing has overturned that decision, freeing Pearce to play against QPR. 25 year-old Pearce has made 29 appearances for Reading this season, picking up 6 bookings. This was his first red card.
