View from the Town End - Scunthorpe (A)

Scunthorpe

Before each game we’ll try to get the view from a fan from the opposition and tonight, Scunthorpe host the Royals.

This week Adam Fothergill from Iron-Bru.net was kind enough to give us his views on tonight's game.

How would you describe your season so far?

Well it started of quite well, with us going as high as 9th at one point. However, after losing our manager Nigel Adkins it all went downhill and from October to January we were in poor form, losing every home game and conceding way to many goals. We got a few odd victories but overall we were terrible under Ian Baraclough. Hopefully it isn't to late to get a good run in and hopefully manage to stay up

Where do you think you'll finish?

Hopefully if we keep on playing like we did against QPR and beat Palace next Saturday, we could stay up, but it is a hard task and it's looking more and more likely that we'll be in League 1 next season. There's alot of talk about Coventry possibly going into administration, so there's a chance we could take advantage if they get a 10 point deduction.

Alan Knill has recently come in as manager, is he the man to take you forward?

I hope so, if you look at what he did with a small budget at Bury, he has done well and if we do go down, we'll be one of the favourites to get promoted, and I'm sure we can bounce back up and in a few years be an established championship club, maybe one day we could even be playing in the top flight, who knows?

Which Scunthorpe players should Royals fans watch out for?

Ramon Nunez, he's got plenty of talent and should be a constant threat for us if he plays like he did on Saturday. Although he can be a bit of a greedy player at times. Joe Garner could give you defence some trouble and Micheal O'Connor is our main man in midfield, scored a cracker on Saturday as well.

Marcus Williams made the switch between the two sides in the summer, before recently moving back to the Iron on loan. It's safe to say he hasn't made the best of first impressions on Reading fans, what do you make of him?

He was a good player for us under Adkins, but now we've got Ben Gordon, Andy Hughes and Eddie Nolan I just don't see the point in bringing in another left back. He's a decent player, but I'm not his biggest fan.

Who are Scunny fans worried about from Reading?

Our defence is the worst in the league, and Reading are a team that knows how to score, so anyone who can score goals. Unless Murphy has a great game, I can see you scoring at least two or three.

Any tips for travelling Royals fans?

If your planning on going to a pub pre match, The Berkely is just down the road and is away friendly, has some good pre match banter between fans as well.

Score Prediction?

On paper it should easily be a win for Reading, but our game on Saturday proved games aren't won on paper, my prediction is 2-2. I'd be happy with a draw if Palace lose, otherwise we need a win to keep up with them. Good luck to Reading for the rest of the season (Apart from on Tuesday), I'd much rather see you promoted than most of the other teams chasing a place in the play offs.

Thanks again to Alan, and we'll have a full Tilehurst End preview coming up later today.
