Coventry (A) Post Match Thoughts
Before each game we take the views from a fan of the opposition and before last Saturday's trip to Coventry 'The Scamster' from Sky Blues Talk gave us his pre-match thoughts. Now he's back to give his opinions on last weekend's 0-0 draw.
First of all congratulations on securing your play-off place, and best wishes for the rest of the season - I hope you get promoted. It was an entertaining game at the Ricoh Saturday with both teams playing some attractive attacking football - there were plenty of chances and I can't really believe how the match ended 0-0.
I must admit to fearing the worst when it was announced that Keiran Westwood was injured and we were playing young Michael Quirke, but along with the rest of the Coventry players he played with an almost new-found confidence that Andy Thorn has instilled since he took over.
From a Coventry fan's point of view I was impressed with how our young right-back Jordan Clarke coped with Jobi McAnuff, and how we matched your midfield - Leigertwood is a quality player yet I think our diamond caused plenty of problems - Clingan, Gunnarsson, Baker and Bell were all on top of their game.
Federici impressed me - he made some excellent saves look routine. Ian Harte [how old is he now?!] also put in a very solid performance - his free-kick and corner deliveries were spot on. Miss of the game goes to Shane Long in the first quarter of an hour - how things would have been different if that had gone in.
Overall it was a good way to end our home campaign - we proved we could match a very good top-6 side in an entertaining match. You secured the point you needed, and I hope your fans enjoyed the game and the Ricoh.
