Reading 1-1 Millwall - Player Ratings

Adam Federici: 5

Federici only had one save to make, which was an excellent stop with his right leg to deny Martyn Waghorn a leveller early in the second half. But he gave away a rash last-minute penalty to give Millwall their deserved equaliser.

Chris Gunter: 5

The Welsh international has steadied and made the right-back position his own in the last few matches, but he was still a tad suspect defensively today. Got forward well, as usual.

Sean Morrison: 7

One of only two players (for me) to come out of today's match with any credit, Morro was commanding at the back and popped up with the simplest of headers to open the scoring. Looked assured in possession as ever.

Alex Pearce: 5

Whilst Morrison exudes confidence, Pearce is the opposite, as he constantly grabs opponents and gets in too tight to mark them. The pair worked well enough today, but Morrison has progressed far more than Pearce this season.

Wayne Bridge: 6

Nothing outstanding from Bridge today, who did his job well enough and produced one crucial tackle early in the match. Came off injured with about ten minutes left.

Garath McCleary: 4

Nothing came off today for the winger who last week scored one and set up the other three. Like most wingers, he's going to have days when it all comes good, and days when he's ineffectual. Sadly, this match was the latter.

Danny Guthrie: 5

As I wrote in my match report, Guthrie was completely marked out of the game by Millwall's Nadjim Abdou - which is strange to say for a deep-lying midfielder. Opponents will have seen how important Guthrie is to our play, and Adkins will have to work on getting him free in future matches.

Chris Baird: 4

Baird has been solid since signing on a free transfer, but today he simply could get a foothold in the game as we struggled to maintain possession. Signs that the Baird-Guthrie combination might be a tad too lightweight.

Jordan Obita: 6

Along with Morrison, Obita can hold his head high after another impressive, exhuberant performance. A great free-kick for the Reading goal, another corner which caused problems, and a mazy run which delivered a chance for Le Fondre on a plate, which hit the post. Promising.

Pavel Pogrebnyak: 5

Pav did his best to hold the ball up against some industrial Millwall defenders, but he was largely unable to work as effectively as last week against Doncaster. He didn't link up too well with Le Fondre either.

Adam Le Fondre: 4

Another game which sadly passed Alfie by, as his shot which hit the post was his only meaningful contribution of the match. Adkins was probably right to keep with the 4-4-2 today but he might want Billy Sharp to recover from injury to try something different.

Hal Robson-Kanu: 5

Held the ball up and won a few headers, had a 25-yarder palmed wide by the Millwall keeper, but Hal just doesn't convince me as a striker at the moment.

Jobi McAnuff: 6

Another decent cameo from McAnuff, who had a decent shot which hit the side netting and managed to get Abdou sent off in his brief 25 minutes on the pitch.
