View From The Town End: Sheffield Wednesday

It's not been the best few weeks but Saturday gives us a great chance to get back to winning ways with a trip to winless Sheffield Wednesday. Owls fan Joe Crann gives us the Wednesday perspective ahead of tomorrow's game.

Chris Brunskill

How would you view Sheffield Wednesday's season so far?

Well, the less said the better! Haha. Nah, in all seriousness though, it's been a really rough season for us so far, but we are improving and I think once we get that vital first win we'll be fine.

Dave Jones' future is constantly being speculated on, is he the man to lead you to safety?

It's difficult to say to be honest. As a football fan you always want to see your team do well and it's easy to point fingers at the manager when things aren't going right. He's made mistakes, there's no doubt about that, but I also think that bringing somebody new in would also be dangerous and, for now at least, I'd keep him in charge.

Michail Antonio divided opinion when he was sold to the Owls before last season, how has he developed and do you think he'll ever be Premier League quality?

I really like Antonio, he was brilliant when he was on loan to us and there have been definite sparks from him this season. With regards to the Premier League, I'm not sure. He's still only 23 and has many years of football left in him. If he can continue to improve and keeps his hunger there then he's certainly got the potential.

What are your best memories of Wednesday v Reading?

In recent years it was probably the 3-2 win over you in 2003, I was a 13-year-old at the time and not so depressed about our standing in English football ;) haha.

And the worst?

There were two... The 5-0 stuffing in 2010 and the 6-0 hammering two years earlier... Neither were particularly happy times for me.

Who should Reading fans be wary of come Saturday?

The man we spoke of earlier, Antonio. You know what it's like when a player comes up against a former team, there's always that bit of added spice, and I'm sure he's keen to show you guys how much he's improved.

Anyone that Owls fans aren't looking forward to facing?

Has to be Le Fondre. I've always rated him and he's already got a few goals for you this season, so I reckon he's definitely the one to watch.

Score prediction?

Unfortunately I'm going 2-1 to you guys, I hope I'm wrong though...

Any tips for Reading fans making the journey up?

Spend the night in Sheffield! There's cheap drink everywhere you look and it's a great night out. Plus, we all know that Sheffielders are the friendliest people in the country ;)
