Forest 2-3 Reading: Obita Seals Vital Win

We'll have a full match report up on the site tomorrow, but in the mean time here's a quick review of Reading's important win over Nottingham Forest on Friday night.

Laurence Griffiths

A great start for Reading, who took the lead after just 8 minutes when Garath McCleary squared for Pavel Pogrebnyak to slot home. Kaspars Gorkss made it 2-0 five minutes later with a header from a Danny Guthrie corner. Cruise control for the Royals, but with half-time looming, former Royal Simon Cox slid in to set the nerves going once again.

Another ex-Royal, Darius Henderson, came on at half-time and in typical Murphy's Law style, he fired home to level the scores. A rampant Forest pushed forward with Reading on the ropes, but when Simon Cox hit the post that was the turning point, as Jordan Obita powered home on the break to put the Royals back into the lead.

Chris Gunter was sent off for a second booking just after Nigel Adkins had made his final substitutions, which left Reading in the lurch (and of course has further repercussions with our lack of defensive depth). But the Royals held out and sealed a massive win in Nottingham on Friday night.
