Alex McCarthy voted Player of the Month for April

McCarthy received 64% of the vote to easily win the award ahead of Danny Guthrie on 23% and wingers Jobi McAnuff and Garath McCleary who each got 5%.

The stand out moment of the month for the 'keeper came against Liverpool, where a string of amazing saves kept out the likes of Luis Suarez and marked a sensational return for a goalkeeper who had spent most of the past five months out injured.

Alex joins Hal Robson-Kanu as winners of the award this season and our many congratulations go out to Alex not just for this but obviously for the England selection as well.

We'll have the nominees for May up after the West Ham game, before holding our own full end of season awards in the coming weeks.
