Fresh Reading's 2013/14 v 05/06 & 11/12 Comparison: Game 4 - Still on course for promotion.

So it's pretty doom & gloom after a disappointing defeat at Blackpool but how has our start to the campaign compared to our previous Championship winning campaigns in 2005/06 and 2011/12. Our newest writer Fresh Reading takes an early look to start a regular feature over the campaign.

So despite all the uproar from the fans following the Blackpool defeat we are still a point better off than the 2011/12 season when we ended up league winners, so it's a too early to call anything too dramatic. The 2005/06 season has pulled further away though and it will be hard to find that sort of form this season as we didn't drop out of the top 2 from this point onward in 2005/06. This season is the fourth second tier season in which we haven't kept a clean sheet in the first four games, 1997/98, 2002/03, 2010/11 are the other three.

FACT: Whilst playing in the second tier Reading have only been unbeaten after the first four games once - 2003/04 from which we finished 9th.

  • Reading's next fixture is in the Capital One Cup against Peterborough (A) on Tuesday 27th August.
  • The next league match is against Yeovil (A) on Saturday 31st August.
