View From The Town End: Leeds United

Our second game of three in the space of seven days, and this one needs perhaps the least introduction. Leeds are in town, and Brian McDermott is coming back home. But what do Leeds fans think of their season so far, and their new manager? Thomas Hill from our sister site Through It All Together lets us in on everything...

Tim Keeton

How would you sum up your season so far?

So far it has been spot on! I personally expected us to be mid-table come the end of the season but our fighting spirit and determination may take us forward. We've started to gel as a team and become hard to beat. Our only disappointment was losing to QPR, we deserved a draw against arguably the best squad in the division. McDermott has us playing better footy then Warnock and there's a unity about the club, fans and players...we've not had it for years and it feels great to be a proper football club again!

It's been around six months since Brian McDermott took the helm, what's been the fans reaction to what they've seen so far both on and off the field?

Without getting carried away, he's done very very well. He's an honest guy, as I'm sure you all know so he fits in with Leeds fans. He knows how much the club means to the fans and he's already building a connection with supporters we've not seen for many years. We all know the game is a results business, so we've got to deliver on the pitch but to say he's been here a few months there's enough changes to make us fans happy. Small but needed steps is the way we're building the club it seems and that is fine by me.

What are your best memories of Reading v Leeds?

To be honest, we've not done too well against you in recent years. That has been largely down to us being in different leagues. We've not beaten you since 2005 - a 3-1 win at Elland Road so I'll have to say that game. Let's hope for a win on Wednesday to make sure I can add more good memories to the collection.

And the worst?

Last year's 2-0 defeat wasn't exactly the best memory to look back on. We were terrible, had a terrible team out and just didn't show up. Plus we had a player sent off. Yeah, let's forget about that game if we can.

Who should Reading fans be worried about on Wednesday?

Luke Murphy is proving to be a quality buy in the middle of midfield. Can pick out a pass and his set-pieces can be a danger! Rudy Austin is a monster in the middle of midfield and if he can get his foot stuck in then he can have a big impact on the game. Ross McCormack and Luke Varney will press all game and try and carve out a chance or two. Overall we're working our arses off to get results!

Anyone that Leeds fans are concerned with?

Adam Le Fondre is always going to cause teams problems. There were rumours of him joining us...I never believed them as Reading would be stupid to sell. He can score from anywhere in the box and if he's given a chance then I can see him slotting it home.

Score prediction?

I'll say 1-1.
