Reading FC Transfer Deadline Day As It Happened

Well it wasn't a barnstormer was it? But here we round up the day as things happened.... or didn't happen.

Scott Heavey

2300

So the window closes and no confirmed signings from Reading. There are rumours that Sissoko could still be confirmed but as we stand Reading will head into their next game with this squad, unless loans are added when the window re-opens in a week's time.

2130

So having been out for the last two hours I return to the far from sweet sound of no transfer news.....

Might be time to be slightly worried.....

1930

The 'voice of Reading FC' Tim Dellor has spoken and it's mixed news.

1845

Another big rumour today has been that of former Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko who's currently with PSG in France. He managed just eight games for PSG and Fiorentina during a loan spell so could he be set to relaunch his career with Reading?

Well one twitter user sent this picture in suggesting it was Sissoko at the club hotel with the outgoing Jimmy Kebe, I'm never great with faces so make your own mind up.

Charles Watts has been digging about and had this to say.

1835

Billy Sharp was one of the big rumours around all summer but it seems the Southampton striker won't be leaving the South Coast side today, that's according to PA journalist Simon Peach.

1830

So it's been confirmed, Adrian Mariappa has joined Palace. All the best Mapps, fee officially undisclosed but believed to be around £3m

1520

Meanwhile the money continues to pile on at the bookies for Billy Sharp to join Reading.

1515

With the Mariappa deal all but done, Jem Karacan wishes his former teammate well. Just waiting for both clubs to officially confirm the news.

1330

Well it's all gone quiet.... while we wait here's some elevator music. It runs for 10 hours so will take us pass the deadline in case of emergency non-buying.

1230

So the Jerome account below does indeed seem to be a fake

While Charles also suggests that the Jerome move could still be on.

1200

While Cameron Jerome hints that maybe he's not Berkshire bound. Though there's no 'official' word as to whether that's Jerome's real account it must be said.

1145

Some slightly more positive news from Charles Watts who pours cold water on the McCleary out rumours.

1115

Well one man who might replace Kebe/McCleary could be Stephen Hunt, that's according to TalkSport. He's currently a free agent after leaving recently relegated Wolves. He did initially provide a spark upon his return but at 32 and a chequered injury history could he still do a job? At least he's left-footed.

1045

Hmmmm Garath McCleary now being linked with a move away from the club. Suddenly from having far too many wingers we could be looking at too few, especially with McAnuff injured.

1030

Mariappa 'on his way' according to Charles Watts.

1000

Meanwhile on the arrivals front, the current Get Reading reporter and regular Tilehurst End podcast guest Charles Watts says there might be some legs in the rumours that Reading are after Stoke striker Cameron Jerome.

0945

Former Get Reading reporter Jonny Fordham gives a hint of the fee for Mariappa.

You'd have to be happy with that if true. Making a profit on a player who didn't set the world alight last season wouldn't be a bad bit of business, especially when his last performance was at Peterborough....

0905

Well that didn't take long!

Mariappa's one that we've suspected might be off given his lack of action so far this season. From the player's point of view a Premier League move would probably seem more appealing than sitting behind Kaspars Gorkss in the Reading pecking order.

0900

Right so here it is... 9am and so far... nothing.

Nigel Adkins has long said he's after a couple of players and with Jimmy Kebe leaving the Madejski over the weekend there should be funds/space to add at least a couple. So far we've brought in Royston Drenthe, Danny Williams and Wayne Bridge, all of whom have had promising starts so let's hope we can maintain that quality of signing.

We wrote a week or so ago who might well leave while there was also plenty of transfer discussion on last week's podcast.

We'll do our best throughout the afternoon to keep you as updated as possible so stay tuned here and to @thetilehurstend
