Reading Player of the Month Vote: August 2013

Well we've survived the first month ladies and gents and it's safe to say it's perfectly encapsulated what we can expect in the Championship this season. Awesome highs, gutting lows and some fairly average draws.... well it's better than last season anyway. Here we shortlist the five players who've been given the highest average rating across the month and invite you to vote for you Reading FC player of the month for August.

Ben Hoskins

NB: For this award we'll only be using League games, with a minimum of three appearances to qualify.

Alex McCarthy

Games: 5 Clean Sheets: 1 TTE MotM: 1 Average TTE Rating: 7.2/10

McCarthy has made an impressive start to the season and while he's only had one clean sheet to his name it's hard to fault the former England U21 international for any of the goals we've leaked this year. His shot stopping has been top notch and he's certainly one of if not the best goalkeeper in the division right now.

Danny Guthrie

Games: 5 Goals: 1 Average TTE Rating: 7/10

Guthrie's road to redemption has continued with a string of good performances that's seen the midfielder awarded at least a six in each of his five games this year with a cracking winner against Ipswich a real highlight. Like many he's looked slightly frustrated in the last couple of games but he'll be integral to our plans if we hope to go up.

**********

Royston Drenthe

Games: 5 Goals: 0 TTE MoM's: 2 Average TTE Rating: 6.8/10

Royston started off in superb fashion against Ipswich and Bolton, being named MOTM by our readers in both the Ipswich and Bolton games. Sadly he hasn't quite managed to live up to his stellar early showings in recent games but he still looks a top quality player that will hopefully only get better.

Wayne Bridge

Games: 4 Clean Sheets: 0 Average TTE Rating: 6.75/10

Bridge seems to have picked up where the likes of Shorey, Bertrand and Harte left off by providing a solid presence in the left back slot. The former Chelsea defender has been solid throughout the early stages of the campaign and it's a shame his one real error proved so costly up at Blackpool.

Jem Karacan

Games: 5 Goals: 2 TTE MoM's: 2 Average TTE Rating: 6.6/10

Karacan has continued his impressive form from the end of last season, adding a bit more substance to his all action style. Always giving it 110%, the midfielder was picked as MOTM twice by TTE readers last month and his brace against Watford was well deserved.

So let us know who you'd give the award too and we'll reveal the result on this week's TTE podcast and right here on The Tilehurst End website.
