View From The Town End: Jure Travner

While most of the attention last week was on Reading's capture of Nathaniel Chalobah, the first official signing of the Steve Clarke era was left-back Jure Travner. We spoke to a St Mirren blogger to ask what they thought of the Slovenian.

When Malky Mackay brought Jure to Watford, he failed to break into their first team. Ignoring some well known, personal issues. Malky has always been a good manager and knows a good player when he sees one. So in Paisley, we were pretty excited about the arrival of Travner. There had been talk of some MLS teams sniffing around, so his arrival in Paisley certainly raised a few eyebrows.

He immediately endeared himself to the fans with an injury time smash into the bottom corner against Aberdeen - which ultimately kept us in the Premier league! (We avoided relegation by one point that season)

He seemed a quiet lad - possibly what held him back at Watford - but clearly a very talented footballer.

Steve Clarke; being a local boy and ex player of the Saints, has clearly watched Jure develop and believes him to be a potential asset for Reading. The Jure is out... but I can see Trav' doing well.

Thoughts from Stephen @StMirrenActive - So folks what do you make of the signing? Let us know in the comments below.
