The Season So Far in Numbers

So after a quarter of the season Reading sit in 13th place. Will Jones gives us the figures that matter, and those that don't.

Ben Hoskins

0 - The number of goals Adam Le Fondre has scored for Cardiff. If this statistic still applies at the next international break you can be certain that he’ll break his duck against Reading.

1 – Only once this season have Reading avoided defeat after conceding the first goal.

2 – Against Sheffield Wednesday Mikkel Andersen became just the second goalkeeper Reading have played who cost a transfer fee since Phil Whitehead’s last game for the club back in 2002. Can you name the other?

3 – The number of clean sheets Reading have so far.

4 – Reading have yet to lose a game when 4% or less of their passes were crosses. On the other hand, the clash at Leeds was the only game Reading have avoided defeat when 5% or more of their passes were crosses.

5 – Headed goals conceded this season. The joint most in the league.

9 – The average number of players missing every game through injury.

13 – Number of academy graduates to play for Reading in the league this season.

14 – The number of tackles Jake Taylor has done this season. Only Michael Hector (31) and Oliver Norwood (26) have managed more.

15 - Reading's points after 11 games. The same as they had at this stage of the season back in 2011/2012. It's also 5 more than they had after the same number of games the last time they started a second season after relegation from the Premier League.

16 – Players have missed games through injury.

21 – Yellow cards in 11 league games.

24 – Number of players Reading have used this season.

88 – Reading’s average long balls per game. The joint third highest in the league.

98 – The number of games Reading players have missed this season through injury.

140 – The number of interceptions the Royals have done in the league. Only Derby, Forest, Millwall, Watford and Wolves have done less.

439 – The average total number of passes per game Reading have attempted this season. 39 more than last season.

618 – The number of passes Reading attempted against both Fulham and Huddersfield. Last season the Royals only once attempted over 500 passes in a game.

2454 – The number Reading’s average attendance is down from last season.
