The news on the injury front today is positive, with Danny Williams, Anton Ferdinand and Jem Karacan all reported to be closer to a return to first-team duties. As reported by Get Reading reporter Charles Watts on Twitter, Messrs Williams and Ferdinand played for Reading's u21 side in a 2-0 win over Brighton.

The BBC also reported today that club captain Jem Karacan should soon be returning to the fold. The Turkish international has been sidelined for more than 12 months with the latest in his series of Leeds United-related injuries, but has recently said that he is "on the final steps of the ladder" in his quest to get back into contention.

Today's news will naturally be a huge lift for all concerned at the club, with numbers desperately needed to add to a depleted squad. The likes of Garath McCleary, Danny Guthrie, Shaun Cummings and more are also still sidelined, so we can only hope that they return soon.
