Adam Federici: 7
Distribution was very good, landed the ball on Murray’s head on more than one occasion, when called upon made a smart save from Sharp and controlled an audacious shot from Austin on his chest to the delight of the away support
Chris Gunter: 7
Played well defensively making some important blocks early on and in the second half, a little disappointed personally that a lot of his overlapping runs were ignored by Blackman who was quite selfish in possession, final delivery wasn’t at his best though.
Alex Pearce: 7
My personal MOTM, a true leader on the pitch. Didn’t give the Leeds strikers an inch and organised the backline well, it still amazes me he isn’t captain in Karacan’s absence.
Michael Hector: 5
May seem harsh but his passing gave me a heart attack as he gave away possession cheaply on numerous occasions; he also strode forwards without seeming to know where he was going. Silly booking too, not his finest 90 minutes but you can see he’s going to become a player Adkins wants in the side week in week out
Jordan Obita: 6
Did a lot of leg work but his end product was lacking and didn’t link up very well with Taylor, often easily dispossessed
Jake Taylor: 4
Again this might seem harsh but I genuinely don’t know what he did all game, never gave Obita an option to play through, never beat his man with the ball, didn’t look like a threat - thus all attacks came through Cox and Blackman.
Hope Akpan: 7
A great performance from a man I slated after the Sheffield Wednesday for not closing down enough; well, this was the exact opposite. He gave the Leeds side no time on the ball whatsoever, winning the ball well and playing it simple.
Oliver Norwood: 6
It was a typical Norwood performance some lovely pinged passes to the wings but not much else this game, came close with a long range effort but also gave the ball away quite often.
Nick Blackman: 6
Looked threatening but squandered two very good late chances, also needs to learn to stay on his feet!
Simon Cox: 6
Link up play good, willingness to shoot poor, but that is indicative of the kind of player that he is more likely to pass than shoot. Given time, his partnership with Murray could be lethal at Championship level
Glenn Murray: 6
Didn’t do much overall but won some good flick-ons and was very unlucky to see his second half header saved by Silvestri.
Subs:
Danny Guthrie (on for Akpan): 5
Him and Norwood don’t work well together on the pitch as they try to play the same role, also gave away silly fouls.
Hal Robson-Kanu (on for Cox): 5
Didn’t understand this change at all as Cox was playing well. HRK failed to threaten and had one shot that nearly went into orbit of Yorkshire.
Jamie Mackie (on for Taylor): N/A
Wasn’t on for long enough to make an impact.
