McCleary to get Green Light

Reading FC winger Garath McCleary is hoping to have his return from injury confirmed next week, as his four-month lay-off looks to be coming to an end.

The Jamaican international has been out with a back injury since the end of last season and will have a scan on Tuesday that Royals boss Nigel Adkins expects to confirm McCleary's return.

"He's not playing at the weekend (at Blackburn) and he's not available against Rotherham because we're following the rehab plan to the letter." Adkins told Get Reading.

"But on Tuesday we should have the green light that he is available for selection once again."

During his injury woe, the 27-year-old signed a new deal at the Madejski Stadium, tying him down until 2017.

Shortly after the 2013/14 season ended, it was confirmed the winger had been playing through the pain-barrier to try and bring Reading into the play-offs, and has not featured since.

However, McCleary is now back in full training and could feature for The Royals before the international break.

With Reading struggling for creativity, and a winnable set of upcoming fixtures, McCleary playing a part in the Charlton home game on November 9th will be a huge boost.
