Ferdinand Suffers Injury Setback

More injury news as a Reading defender picks up another knock on Tuesday night.

Scott Heavey

Having completed just 45 minutes of Tuesday night's game against Rotherham, Reading centre back Anton Ferdinand has been ruled out of Saturday's game against Charlton Athletic at the Madejski. Get Reading have reported that the former Sunderland and West Ham player picked up a calf injury in the first half, and was substituted for Michael Hector.

It had been a solid debut for Ferdinand, who started alongside Alex Pearce. He looked good in the air and confident on the ball, and added much-needed experience with Stephen Kelly also returning to the side.

Although Jake Cooper is an option to replace him on Saturday, it is expected that Michael Hector will return to the starting XI having completed his one-match suspension at Blackburn Rovers and taking his place on the bench against Rotherham.
