Reading FC Player of the Month - November 2014

An up and down month for Reading, as a home defeat to Charlton Athletic increased the pressure on Nigel Adkins, but a gritty win at Norwich City showed real fighting spirit. Here are your nominees for Player Of The Month for November.

(Just a quick note at the top, as I'm sure some people will wonder why a certain Jake Cooper isn't nominated...

Unfortunately he only made two appearances in November from the five games Reading played - he needed at least three to be considered for the award.

But he took 95% of the Man Of The Match vote up at Norwich, so there's no doubting he put in the best performance by any Reading player this month. So here's some well deserved individual praise for our young centre-back.)

And without further ado... In alphabetical order:

Adam Federici

Average rating: 6.4 (5 appearances); Man Of The Match awards: 1st (Charlton Athletic H), 3rd (Cardiff City A)

Feds won the award for October after an outstanding performance away at Bournemouth, and whilst he didn't have as heroic a match this month, he still showed his shotstopping ability in the home defeat to Charlton, which earned him your Man Of The Match award. A few shaky moments, and worries about his command of his box, but his consistency is encouraging.

Michael Hector

Average rating: 6.5 (4 appearances); Man Of The Match awards: 1st (Cardiff City A), 3rd (Norwich City A)

Hector's first appearance of the month came at half time at home to Rotherham replacing Anton Ferdinand, and since then he's been the most impressive performer in a defence which, admittedly, didn't keep a clean sheet with him in the side for the full ninety. But commanding the defence at Cardiff, whilst down to ten men, showed his increasing confidence at this level.

Glenn Murray

Average rating: 6.2 (5 appearances); Man Of The Match awards: 2nd (Charlton Athletic H), 3rd (Rotherham United H, Blackburn Rovers A)

Just the one goal for Murray this month in defeat at Ewood Park, but the striker got three "top three" finishes in our Man Of The Match polls in November, showing that the fans appreciate the work he's putting in up front. Perhaps he hasn't had the service, and he's shown signs of frustration in the last couple of games - but he can, and will, score goals in this side.

Oliver Norwood

Average rating: 6.4 (5 appearances); Man Of The Match awards: 1st (Blackburn Rovers A), 2nd (Norwich City A), 3rd (Charlton Athletic H)

A constant in the midfield in November, with Danny Williams working his way back to full fitness - Norwood was another consistent performer last month who, like Murray, grabbed three "top three" finishes from your MOTM votes. He hasn't impressed quite as much as he did at the start of the season, but even after a couple of months, he's one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Those are your four nominees - the polls close on Friday at midday, and we'll reveal the results shortly after...
