There was heartbreak for the Royals last night as a quality Arsenal side beat them 1-0 to advance to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup, leaving Reading with more work to do if they're to improve on the semi-final finish last year.

There were chances for both sides, but shortly after the hour mark Royals' defender Lawal was adjudged to have brought down Chris Willock. Crowley fired the resulting penalty home.

They could have taken the lead if Hinds had been more clinical, whilst Sheppard could have equalised if not for a super Huddart save.

The youngsters had the chance to equalise in the final minutes as Sheppard was brought down, but the usually clinical Harry Cardwell blazed his penalty high over the bar.
