Having been released in the summer, we thought that former Reading defender Kasparss Gorkss had managed to find a new club in Malaysia. However, the Latvian international appears to have abruptly signed for League One side Colchester United. Announcing the news ahead of today's FA Cup clash with Peterborough United, the U's official website says that Gorkss has signed a short term deal until January.

The 33-year old played for Reading for three years, helping the Royals to our second Championship title in his first season at the club. He fell out of favour in the Premiership and subsequent promotion campaign under Nigel Adkins, but was a key source of experience at the back nonetheless.
