January Player of the Month Results: Alfie Breaks The Streak

Coming into January's POTM voting Danny Guthrie and Pavel Pogrebnyak had a clean sweep from August to December but with neither making the final voting, who would break the streak?

Ben Hoskins

Well as you've read from the title, striker Adam Le Fondre took the honours with 35% of the votes to beat Danny Williams (27%) into second with Garath McCleary in third (10%) and Jordan Obita, Jobi McAnuff and Kaspars Gorkss sharing the remaining votes.

With Alfie named the Championship's Player of the Month it was no surprise to see him also take our award in a month where his two hat-tricks helped us smash Bolton 7-1 and Blackpool 5-1. His partnership with Pog was one of the most pleasing parts of the month and he went from being potential transfer bait as the month opened to a must keep player by deadline day.

While he didn't win the award, Danny Williams more than deserved second place and it showed just how good he was in January that he was just a few votes away from beating a man with two hat-tricks!

There's still some time for players to stake their claim for February but Williams must be eyeing up his first award of the season, while big Pav will be keen to reclaim the title he's already picked up three times this season.
