Youth Teams Progress

After a terrific week of football for both Reading’s youth teams, the u19 and u21 sides both have exciting fixtures just around the corner.

Having knocked out Liverpool in an enthralling game at the Madejski last Wednesday, the Royals' u19s face Fulham, with the west London side having defeated Huddersfield 2-1 to move into the last four of the FA Youth Cup. Unlike its' senior equivalent, the latter stages of the Youth Cup are all played over two legs. Firstly, the semi-finals will take place at the home grounds of both the clubs' first teams, with the same rules applying to the final. Also, it's a great chance for the young Royals to get even more national attention, with ITV4 showing a live broadcast of all the remaining fixtures in the competition.

As for the u21s, they beat Arsenal by 3 goals to 1 at Boreham Wood last Saturday, but are still to find out their opponents for the final. Potentially playing them are Manchester City and Burnley, who face each other on the 1st April. Similarly to the u19s, the final will be played across two legs, with both matches played at the home stadium of the senior team between the dates of 31st March and 14th April.

With regards to both next-round fixtures, more detailed information has not yet been released.
