Instant Reaction: Brighton 1-1 Reading

A back-and-forth game on the south coast has kept two play-off chasing sides in and around the top 6.

Reading started with four changes: Blackman, Drenthe, Hector and Guthrie starting as Pogrebnyak and Williams were out injured.

A tight first half saw Reading start well but lose a goal to a misunderstanding between goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and Chris Gunter, who unwittingly headed into his own net.

The 2nd half was more Reading-dominated. Brighton centre back Greer was sent off for 2 yellows and Royston Drenthe making the home team pay with a near post finish for his first Reading goal.

A failed penalty shout from Blackman, a saved one-on-one for Mcanuff and a late save from McCarthy kept the scores level.

Reading move back into the top 6, level with Wigan who have 2 games in hand. Brighton are 8th, 2 points behind.

We'll have a full report, ratings and 5 things up over the weekend ahead of our trip to Leeds on Tuesday night- who lost 1-5 to Bolton today.
