Reading loanee wins Europa League

Reading outcast Daniel Carrico was part of the Sevilla side that won the 2014 Europa League.

Reading loanee Daniel Carrico played the full game for Sevilla as they defeated Benfica on penalties during the Europa League Final in Turin on May 14.

Carrico joined Reading for about half a million pounds in January 2013, but only went on to make 3 appearances for the Royals during their ill fated Premier League campaign.

The once highly-rated Sporting Lisbon captain joined Spanish side Sevilla during the summer of 2013 on an initial full-season loan deal, and has made 30 appearances in total for Unai Emery's side, scoring 3 goals in all competitions.

Despite still being on the books of Adkins' team, it seems likely that Sevilla will take up their option to purchase the defender/midfielder; failing that, he's likely to have drawn admiring glances from clubs in a better financial situation than the hoops.

Congratulations to Daniel Carrico and his Sevilla teammates on a memorable victory against the (so-called) cursed Benfica.
