Chopper Visit Fuels Takeover Speculation

The ongoing saga of the sale of Reading Football Club saw some fresh movement this week as a picture of a helicopter landing in the Madejski Stadium car park sent the rumour mill into overdrive....

Ben Hoskins

Initial speculation had dismissed the landing as something linked to a corporate event being held at the Stadium and Conference Centre, or as an old picture.

Well today Get Reading are reporting that the helicopter visit could well be linked to fresh investment, with the visitors reportedly met by Reading Chairman Sir John Madejski and Chief Executive Nigel Howe.

The identity of said visitors remains a mystery at this stage but given the number of visits and random folk spotted in the directors box last season, I wouldn't be rushing out to draw up an expensive shopping list for Nigel Adkins just yet.

The club's exact financial state right now remains a mystery as well although all signs point to the situation being far from healthy. Let's just hope this visit proves more fruitful than the previous few!

UPDATE: Sky Sports are reporting that Israeli billionaire Terry Sagi is in talks with Madejski to buy the club.
