Reading claim Family Excellence Award

The Royals have been given the award by the Football League for the 2013/14 season.

Mike Hewitt

Madejski Stadium has long been touted as one of the best places to bring your family; that has become a reality as the Football League have decided that Reading Football Club are deserving of the award for their hospitality for families and young fans.

As reported on the Official Site,

Created in 2007, the Award recognises the outstanding experience provided by clubs for young fans and families as part of a scheme that won the Gold Award at the European Professional Football Leagues' Best Practice Awards, earlier this season.

The Royals have provided a number of family based initiatives over the last year - including a matchday 'Fun Zone', club open days, hospital visits and numerous competitions for our Young Royals members.

The 2014/15 season will see the introduction of brand new Family Season Tickets; dedicated blocks of seating for families and youngsters, providing a child friendly atmosphere and offering savings of up to £100.

Bravo, one and all, bravo.

Royals HR and Customer Service Manager Jackie Evans told the Official Site:

So much hard work has gone on behind the scenes at the club to provide a friendly, enjoyable and unique experience for families who visit us on both matchdays and non-matchdays. This is not a new thing, we have been recognised before and we want to continue to be held in high regard for many years to come. I would like to personally thank everybody for their dedication to the cause - from our Chairman to the matchday staff who have worked tirelessly to create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone at Madejski Stadium.

How is it awarded, I hear you scream? Well, "the award recipients are decided by an independent assessment using real families that has been commissioned by The Football League, at all 72 League clubs, during the 2013/14 season."

Congratulations to everyone involved at Reading FC for a fantastic achievement.
