Looking for clues as to the shape of Reading's line-up in the Championship kick-off next month, Jordan Obita took up his left-back slot and a 4-3-3 was utilised from the off. Ryan Edwards kept his place on the right wing and Michael Hector played centre midfield alongside Jake Taylor and Hope Akpan. Chris Gunter held the armband.
TEAM NEWS - starting XI: McCarthy; Gunter, Obita, Pearce, Morrison, Akpan, Hector, J.Taylor, Edwards, Blackman, Pogrebnyak

The Royals, backed by 200 away fans, came close in the first half via crosses from Taylor and Obita. Alex Pearce had a header blocked, and the first half ended goalless.
After the restart Reading took the lead, Edwards crossing for Pogrebnyak to power home a diving header. Edwards has been impressive in the two pre-season games so far and an assist for the Aussie will help kick on his Royals career. The Royals hit the woodwork shortly after, centre back Sean Morrison flicked on Obita's free kick but was denied by the crossbar.
Many changes then took place, Federici was now in goal and kept the score 1-0 with a smart close-range stop.
Team as it stands now: Federici, Cummings, Long, Cooper, Hyam, Kuhl, Tshibola, Kelly, Stacey, Fosu, Robson-Kanu. Virtually a u21s side.

Yeovil levelled via a set piece goal, headed in by A Triallist, who's currently in deadly pre season form- especially for Blackpool. But, Nigel Adkins will be satisfied with a friendly that's all about fitness and performance.
That was that, with Wycombe next up where we'll have our man in the ground for a full report and ratings.
