Potential Arrivals
Patrick Bamford- Sky Sports have reported that Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford could be on his way to the Madejski on a season-long loan move. This would be an impressive signing with Bamford proven at this level with after a loan spell at Derby last season. There are a number of clubs interested in the player but Reading are reported to be leading the race for the young striker. Get Reading, Reading FC reporter Charles Watts has stated that enquiries have been made into the player.
Jack Hobbs- There was reported renewed interest in the Nottingham Forest centre back but that speculation has again recently cooled after Forest manager Stuart Pearce reiterated his desire for Hobbs to stay at the club and feature in his plans at the club. Pearce also said it was impossible for the club to sell the centre back.
Dean Hammond- There has been continued speculation about Hammond leaving the King Power Stadium but speculation recently cooled down a bit as the foxes continue their search for a central midfielder. That was until yesterday when reports broke about former Inter Milan and Argentinian midfielder Esterban Cambiasso joining the club. This would open the door for Dean Hammond to make his exit from the club and potentially join the Royals with Nigel Adkins being a long-term admirer of the player.
Eric Bautheac- Talksport reported around a week ago that the Nice winger could be on his way out of the club with Reading prepared to make a bid for the player. Update: Bautheac has reportedly rejected a move to Reading.
Emil Bergstrom- Sky Sports reported that Djurgardens IF centre Bergstrom could be on his way out of Sweden and into the English Championship. There are a few Championship clubs seemingly interest with Reading, Watford and Wigan being the clubs named with a genuine interest in the highly rated Swedish defender.
George Friend- A couple of weeks ago Sky Sports reported that a number of Premier League and Championship clubs were tracking the Middlesborough defender. No new deal has been signed by the defender who is in to the final year of his contract. Update: Friend has signed a new four-year deal with Middlesbrough.
Karl Henry- There are a few rumours going around that Henry could be involved in the Alex McCarthy deal but at this stage it's only speculation. The potential transfer would make sense given Reading's injury crisis in central midfield and Henry's proven record at winning promotion from the division.
Potential Departures
Alex McCarthy- After months of speculation, it looks like the academy product is finally set to leave the club. Harry Redknapp's QPR have been interested in McCarthy throughout the transfer window and The Mirror have reported that they are set to sign him for £6million.
