Flash Report: Reading 1-0 Scunthorpe

A victory in the Capital One Cup takes Nigel Adkins side into the 3rd round, Jake Taylor grabbing the goal...

Ben Hoskins

Well it may not have been a stunningly memorable game by any count, a win's a win. Jake Taylor provided it, bundling home a goalmouth scramble from a corner with just 5 minutes remaining.

The starting line-up showed some more additions to our injury woe, with Jake Cooper and Craig Tanner starting their first professional game- and Jamie Mackie on his full debut. Jordan Obita and Michael Hector joined the fun in the physio's room while Alex McCarthy travelled with the squad- but sat out the match.

The game was tight, and chances were generally neither here nor there, with The Royals having 53% possession and 7 shots (4 on target) and 12(3) to the hosts.

We'll have our own report from one of the hardy 200+ souls in due course, and we'll be ready for the draw for the 3rd round tomorrow night. With the likes of MK Dons, Shrewsbury and Liverpool possible match-ups, the next round will be played the week commencing the 22nd September.
