Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 Reading: Live Match Thread & Instant Reaction

Stevie May's deflected free-kick earned Sheffield Wednesday a fortunate 1-0 win over a Royals team that just couldn't take their chances.

17:00 - Full-time, Wednesday take the points.

16:50 - And Wednesday take the lead! Cooper gives away a free-kick on the edge of the box and Stevie May strikes a free-kick that deflects off the wall and past a stranded Mikkel Andersen who hasn't had a save to make yet... gutting.

16:38 - Pog's on for Murray and Mackie on for Cox as Nigel Adkins looks to try and snatch a win.

16:20 - Into the second half and Jake Cooper is in the thick of the action at both ends. First he's lucky not to give away a penalty before going up the other end and nearly nodding home a corner from close range, only to see it deflected away on the goal line.

15:52 - And that's it for the first half, 0-0 and Murray's penalty miss the only real chance of note.

15:30 - A pretty scrappy game, but Reading had a golden chance as Giles Coke brought down Glenn Murray in the area. Murray stepped up to take the penalty, but Kieren Westwood guessed right to save.

14:02 - Royals team news is in!

Two changes as Adam Federici and Michael Hector both miss out through injury. That hands a full Reading debut to Mikkel Andersen and a first League start to Jake Cooper. Jake Taylor also starts in place of Jamie Mackie, whilst Danny Guthrie's return from injury looks complete as he's fit for the bench.

Reading: Andersen; Gunter (C), Obita, Pearce, Cooper; Akpan, Norwood, Taylor, Blackman; Cox, Murray

Subs: Lincoln, Long, Kuhl, Guthrie, Edwards, Mackie, Pogrebnyak
