International Round-Up September 2014 (part one)

With the international break now upon us, Jacobpotter95 takes us through the players involved in the countries' matches this week.

Bryn Lennon

Seniors

Royals defender Alex Pearce capped off an excellent week by scoring his 2nd international goal against Oman in a friendly this week with an excellent finish that any striker would have been proud of. Pearce will be looking to be involved again in the future as Ireland take on Germany in their first European Championship qualifier against World Champions Germany on October the 8th.

New signing Oliver Norwood is expected to be involved for Northern Ireland this Sunday when they take on Hungary in the first of their European Championship qualifiers in a group that they may feel they could get out of.

Current Royals stand-in captain Chris Gunter is expected to be involved in Wales' first qualifier against Andorra on Tuesday night. Hal Robson-Kanu is ruled out through injury but this gave a chance to another Royals academy graduate in Jake Taylor. This is Jake's first international call-up to the senior side, having already captained the Under 21's side in his earlier career.

Shaun Cummings was originally called up to the Jamaica squad for their match against Canada but has since had to withdraw from the squad after picking up a nasty looking injury against Scunthorpe in the Capital One Cup.

Youth

Scotland duo Jonathan Henly and Dominic Hyam were part of the Under 21's squad for their UEFA qualifiers but both were not involved in their match against Slovakia during their 1-1 draw on Thursday night.

Harry Cardwell was involved for Scotland Under 19's and managed to score a brace in their match against Czech Republic. His first goal was a glancing header in the 19th minute and he netted his 2nd of the match just before half time with a tidy finish into the bottom corner after a defensive mistake. He also played in their match against Switzerland yesterday but couldn't find the net as they drew 0-0.

Sean Long and Shane Griffin are currently away with Republic Of Ireland Under 21's as they prepare for their tough match against Germany Under 21's tonight. Pierce Sweeney has also travelled with the squad after having an operation on a broken nose last month.

Regular first team midfielder Aaron Kuhl is on standby duty with England Under 19's along with fellow Royals Rob Dickie and Jack Stacey.

And finally Sammi Fridjonsson, Tomas Urbancic and Sindri Scheving were with the Iceland Under 19's squad who drew against Northern Ireland Under 19's 2-2 with Fridjonsson scoring the opening goal.
