Reading FC Player of the Month - August 2014

Five League games in August and we saw the best and worst of the Royals to start the season - from being trounced at Nottingham Forest one week, to grabbing a one-nil win at Middlesbrough the next. Here are your nominations for Player of the Month.

NB: only League appearances count towards the Player of the Month vote. Minimum 3 appearances.

In alphabetical order...

Chris Gunter

Average rating: 6.2 (5 apps); Man of the Match wins: 2nd (Ipswich H), 3rd (Wigan A)

Aside from one bad individual performance up at Forest (which earned him a 3/10), it was another solid month for the Welsh right-back who, generally, is a model of consistency, but has he stood out enough for you this August?

Michael Hector

Average rating: 6.0 (5 apps); MOTM wins: 1st (Ipswich H), 3rd= (Middlesbrough A)

Thrown into the centre-back position after the departure of Sean Morrison, Big Hec has shown potential with two 8/10 performances (including a MOTM one against Ipswich) but do a couple of 4/10s dent his chances of the monthly gong?

Aaron Kuhl

Average rating: 6.33 (3 apps); MOTM wins: 1st (Huddersfield H), 2nd (Nottingham Forest A)

Looked a natural when brought into the side because of the injury crisis, and in just three appearances he had two top-three - but has he had enough game time to earn your vote?

Jordan Obita

Average rating: 6.4 (5 apps); MOTM wins: none

Notched the joint highest average rating from our writers this month but didn't come in the top three of any MOTM votes - is his consistency enough to reward him with the monthly prize instead?

Alex Pearce

Average rating: 6.4 (5 apps); MOTM wins: 2nd (Middlesbrough A)

Pearce, like Obita, averaged 6.4 over the month and was rewarded with a second place in the MOTM vote for the Boro win - can he go one better in the overall August vote?

Those are your nominees, and you've got one week to decide your August Player of the Month.
