The transfer rumour mill is churning out stories for Reading like there's no tomorrow at the moment. Earlier, the Royals were linked with the likes of Stephen Warnock from Leeds United and Cardiff City striker Nicky Maynard. However, Goal are reporting that Steve Clarke has set his sights on a loan move for Manchester United striker Will Keane. With the likes of Falcao, Rooney, Van Persie and Wilson all above him in the pecking order for the Red Devils, first team opportunities are not likely to come up.
The 22 year old has been on loan in the Championship recently, spending time at Wigan and QPR last season - he made his debut for the latter in Reading's 3-1 win at Loftus Road.
Although this can probably go into the same paper talk category as most transfer rumours, it does make sense for a couple of reasons. It's pretty obvious that Steve Clarke will be in the market for a new striker this month, so a loan deal for someone who's already done well at Championship level is logical. What's more, with finances tight, such a move would be unlikely to cost Reading too much.
What do you think of this rumour? Would Will Keane fit the bill at Reading?
