We first reported on this back in December, and finally Jure Travner has got international clearance to join up with Reading - he takes squad number 29 and will challenge/provide cover for Jordan Obita in the left-back position.
The 29-year-old, formerly of Watford and St. Mirren amongst others, joins on a six month contract - and Steve Clarke told the official site that he wants Travner to prove that he should stay beyond June.
Jure is an experienced player who has shown enough in training to suggest that he can help the squad between now and the end of the season. Due to contractual difficulties at his previous club he didn’t play as often as he would have liked and, after a protracted transfer, he now has a chance to show us if he can earn an extended deal here at Reading FC.
The deal seems quite low-risk, with just a six-month commitment and presumably wages that won't break the bank, whilst the fact that Reading have stuck with Travner through his contract saga and his two-month trial mean they must see something in the Slovenian.
Are you happy with the deal? Let us know below.
