Craig's new deal will see him contracted Reading until the summer of 2017, while his loan month will take him through initially to the end of February.
Absolutely over the moon with signing a contract extension with @ReadingFC, just want to say thank you for all the kind messages...
— Craig Tanner (@CraigTanner27) January 22, 2015
Tanner was part of the Academy side who won last season's U21 Premier League Cup, scoring in the first leg as Reading beat Manchester City to win the trophy.
That success helped Tanner earn a spot in the first team squad at the start of the campaign and the youngster scored within minutes on his Royals debut as we beat Newport 3-1 in the League Cup at the Madejski Stadium. A first start followed in the second round at Scunthorpe, with the 20-year-old also coming off the bench three times in Championship games during August.
Sadly his progress was then stunted by a knee injury, with initial fears that he could miss the rest of the season.
Fortunately Tanner avoided surgery and over the Christmas period returned to action for the U21 side, though senior places were much harder to come by.
He joins an AFC Wimbledon side 13th in League Two and we'll have regular updates of his progress in our loan reports right here on The Tilehurst End.
Best of luck Craig!
