This was never going to be a classic match, and the first half certainly proved that.
Amazingly it took until just before half time for either side to muster a single shot on goal. And that first effort was a wayward Oliver Norwood free kick which would have looked more at home when Huddersfield Giants are playing at the John Smith's Stadium.
Thankfully the second half picked up, and it was the men from Royal Berkshire who got the first and only goal of the game.
A neat move involving Hal Robson-Kanu and Danny Williams gave Nick Blackman the chance to tuck it away with a tidy finish.
The Royals comfortably saw out the rest of the match and were able to bring on young striker Dominic Samuel towards the end of the game.
Huddersfield's chances of forcing a replay were effectively ended when Jonathan Hogg was sent off in injury time for an off the ball incident with Williams.
So Reading's cup campaign continues. We'll have plenty more reaction up in the next few days, including details of our fourth round opponents.
