Reading got off to a good start, with Lucas Piazon scoring a good team goal in the 13th minute, with Orlando Sa doubling the lead just after halftime with a right-foot shot from just inside the area.
A bright first half of the game gave way to a terrible capitulation as Fulham rallied and scored three goals in six second half minutes.
Ross McCormack, the £11,000,000 signing from Leeds in the summer of 2014, scored the first. 19-year-old prodigy Moussa Dembele scored the second to equalise from close range before The Cottagers took the lead for the first time in the game when Alexander Kacaniklic scored from a quick, counter-attacking break.
Fulham rubbed salt into the wounds when Dembele again cut through the Reading defence, combining with McCormack to give Fulham a healthy lead and suggest the game was over.
There was still time for yet more drama though, as Fulham had a shot cleared off the line from Chris Gunter and a good chance from a free kick went begging for The Royals.
You wouldn't want to be in that dressing room right now...
