Young Duo Return To Action In Reading FC U21s Win

Reading's U21 side saw off Norwich 2-0 at the Madejski Stadium last night in a game that saw two youngsters with first team experience make returns from long lay-offs.

Reading striker Dominic Samuel and winger Jack Stacey both got over an hour for the club's top Academy side as they earned a 2-0 win in the U21 Premier League.

Samuel had been out of action since suffering a knee injury on first team duty at Colchester back in August while Stacey had been dealing with an ankle problem that he'd picked up at Derby in the final game of last season. In the meantime both have gone on to be awarded new senior deals at the club, with both talked up highly by Steve Clarke.

Last night saw Samuel notch an assist for the opening goal fror Andrija Novakovich, while Stacey was deployed in a more unfamiliar right-back role. Novakovich then set up Sami Fridjonsson to make it 2-0 and help Reading move up to second in the table, two points behind leaders Sunderland.

Jake Cooper, Pierce Sweeney, Rowan Liburd and Tariq Fosu all played 90 minutes for the Royals as they each continue to make their cases for inclusion in the first team. After a disappointing set of results for the seniors last week, this was a timely reminder of the talent that's waiting in the wings.

So folks would you like to see either Stacey or Samuel back in the mix with the first team over the next couple of weeks or is the U21 side or a loan spell best for them?
