Canadian Police Issue Arrest Warrant For Lucas Piazon

Some troubling news on the Reading loanee being reported by the Canadian media this morning.

Toronto police have issued an arrest warrant for Reading's on-loan midfielder Lucas Piazon in connection with a sexual assault that took place during last summer's Pan Am games. Piazon, who was part of the Brazil team that earned bronze during the tournament, is alleged (along with teammate Andrey) to have sexually assaulted a 21-year-old on July 25th.

In order to face charges, Piazon would have to be extradited to Canada. He is, of course, currently in the UK, on loan with Reading, and it's unclear whether or not Canada will attempt to extradite him. But no matter how this proceeds, that police are seeking the arrest of Piazon is worrying to say the least.

At the present time neither Reading, Chelsea nor Piazon have issued a response and it's very important to remember that he's innocent until proven guilty.

We'll bring you more as we get it.
