Academy product Simon Cox has joined League One champions Bristol City on loan until the beginning of January.
The Republic of Ireland international joins the Robins after not featuring for The Royals under Steve Clarke since the Capital One Cup second round victory over Portsmouth on August 25.
Simon Cox joined the club on a permanent transfer from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2014, starting the season in blistering form and forging a promising partnership with on-loan striker Glenn Murray, bagging himself eight goals by the New Year.
However, things soon started to deteriorate and the former Swindon Town and West Bromwich Albion striker hasn't scored since December 28 last year.
Speaking to the official website, Reading manager Steve Clarke said:
"This arrangement is good for all parties and we wish Simon well in his loan spell at Bristol City."
Cox started for The Royals 32 times in all competitions last season, compared to just the once this term. Steve Clarke isn't thought to be a fan of the striker, having previously sold him whilst in charge of West Brom.
