Another Reading Youngster Joins Loan Exodus

It's loan deadline day! While Reading won't be bringing anyone in today, there was some movement out of the Madejski Stadium as a young forward made a temporary switch.

The latest player to leave Reading on loan is 20-year-old American Andrija Novakovich who's made the move to Conference/National League side Cheltenham until the start of January. The highly thought of USA U20s International has made a couple of substitute appearances for Reading already and was kept out of last summer's Youth World Cup so that he could spend more time with the Royals' first team in pre-season.

Now he'll link up with the Conference leaders for a few weeks where he'll find a familiar face in fellow Royals loanee Rob Dickie who's been there since the start of the campaign.

Novakovich gave a brief interview to the Cheltenham website and if anything his accent is an interesting one to try and work out!

In what must be a pretty well rehearsed script given all the recent loan departures, Steve Clarke told Reading's website.

"Like most of our young players Andrija will benefit from a spell out on loan. He has always shown a good level of ability since I came to the club last December but now needs the extra demands that will be put on him by competitive league football at Cheltenham Town. We will be following Andrija's progress with interest and look forward to seeing how he handles this stage of his development."

The move will be terrific for the youngster's development but you do wonder about our depth up front right now with Dominic Samuel also away on loan and so many injuries hitting the squad. FIngers crossed both Andrija and Dom can come back from loan spells in the new year and really put some pressure on the likes of Orlando Sa and Matej Vydra.

In the meantime best of luck to the young American and we'll keep you up to date with his progress in our monthly loan reports.
