It's nearly Christmas and we all know what that means! Yes, lots of Championship football. With 24 games on show, we take a look back at the week's best bits.
Game of the Week
This week's game of the week could be found at the AMEX stadium where Middlesbrough ended Brighton's club-record run of 22 league matches with an impressive 3-0 win to send them top of the Sky Bet Championship over Christmas.
Middlesbrough took the lead after only 5 minutes. Following a nice bit of passing build up, the ball was sprayed out to Albert Adomah, who whipped in a lovely curling cross to the near post. Kike reacted fastest, beating German defender Uwe Huenemeier to the ball to head in his first goal since August.
Brighton found it really tough to get a foothold in the game. Both James Wilson and midfielder Dale Stephens had chances, but failed to test Middlesbrough keeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos.
Middlesbrough doubled their lead with a minute of the first half remaining. Grant Leadbitter fired in a corner towards Daniel Ayala in a cleverly worked corner routine. Brighton defender Bruno manager to get in the way of Ayala's header, but it was deflected onto Adomah who turned the ball past David Stockdale in the Brighton goal.
Chris Houghton had a huge task on his hands at half time following a first half performance in which his side failed to register a single shot on target. Something he said at half time had an affect on his players. Brighton started the second half with much more purpose and Jacob Murphy twice tested Dimitrios Konstantopoulos in the opening 11 minutes.
However, Middlesbrough effectively made the game safe in the 61st minute following a Stewart Downing corner. The ball found its way to Kike, who turned sharply and delivered an accurate cross to the far post for Uruguay international Christian Stuani to head home his ninth goal of the season from three yards out.
Man of the Match: Albert Adomah
