Reading FC 0-1 Wigan Athletic: Media Roundup

It was another disappointing and frankly embarrassing night on Tuesday. This how the media summed it up.

I'm going to start this game's sobering write-up with Sky Sports, who said that the game was a scrappy affair with Wigan being second best for most of it. Another stat that they point out is that Wigan hadn't won for eight matches. If you can bear to watch it again, the highlights from Sky are here.

Elsewhere, the BBC follow a similar theme with the headline "Pearce sinks Reading with vital win" and also carry Clarke's comment regarding the game being rubbish.

HITC Sport call it a big win and comment that it has dragged us back into the relegation battle.

Our American friends are following Danny Williams's progress again on MLS Soccer, with his stats going forward not too bad but do also point to the fact that this was the first time in just under a year that we have lost two games at home on the bounce.

ESPN FC use Sky Sports report of the game but if you click on the stats page on ESPN then you get the details of each players' performance.

The Daily Mail carry a fairly lengthy report and are back again with their really annoying info-graphic stats. They also run with the headline a "Turgid game" which is possibly the most apt comment on last night's performance.

Running a good column this week are Sportsmole, who again follow the similar theme of everyone else by saying we blew a few good chances.

The Guardian have a summary of all the games from last night and reckon that Wigan could have snatched another one had they taken their chances.

The briefest reports award goes to Football365's (probably all the game deserved) which runs to four lines and is the exactly the same report that TeamTalk carry.

The Reading FC official site run with it was a "dogged win" for Wigan with Reading being "under par" and "lacklustre." Personally I can think of better adjectives! Wigan's response was understandably a little more positive. They label it a "gigantic" performance and also point out that it was their third win on the trot against us at the Madejski Stadium.

Charles Watts at GetReading doesn't call many punches and called the game "awful" and that we are now nervously looking over our shoulders. The Wigan Today website say that Wigan deserved to win and also that their back four were "magnificent".

If you want the most passionate report of the match then check out The Tilehurst End report with our own BucksRoyal giving an informed report with probably the most accurate photo of the match!

I could probably go on for a while collecting reports to highlight but I think you all get the gist of what the media is saying - Reading where terrible.
