The summer reshuffle has already begun at Reading Football Club with the announcement of Tony Spearing as Head of Scouting and Recruitment.

Upon his arrival, manager Steve Clarke told the official website:

"Tony was a valued member of my staff at West Bromwich Albion and, when he became available after a back room shuffle there, I was delighted that I could persuade him to come and work for me at Reading FC.

"He has an extensive knowledge of European players, and coupled with his network of contacts at home and abroad, will be an important part of my staff going forward."

Tony added:

"I am delighted to join Reading and it was an honour to be asked to rejoin my former manager.

"I am part of a forward-thinking team here, I spent 8 years at a similar-sized club in West Bromwich Albion, and when I got the chance to come to Reading I saw it as an opportunity not to be missed."

The 50 year old has a huge amount of experience, having previously held a similar role at Steve Clarke's former club West Brom, where they signed some talented players to take them to 8th in the Premier League. He has also been Senior Scout at Blackburn Rovers.

He takes over the role after Steve Head was made redundant after two years at the club on July 16, 2014.
