Reading Player Of The Month - March 2015

Six matches in March and just two wins, but the second of those victories was one of the greatest in Reading history as the Royals sealed their first FA Cup Semi Final berth for 88 years. Here's your chance to vote for your Player Of The Month for March.

In alphabetical order... (N.B. We're including FA Cup ties this month - well it's been the highlight of a poor season after all!)

Nathaniel Chalobah

Average rating: 7.00 (4 appearances); MOTM awards: 1st (Bradford City H)

Perhaps the first month where we've seen exactly why Steve Clarke brought the Chelsea man in on loan. In the two FA Cup ties he oozed class, with one of the best midfield performances in a Reading shirt since Gylfi Sigurdsson and before him Steve Sidwell. He and Williams seem to have formed a robust partnership in the middle.

Chris Gunter

Average rating: 7.00 (4 appearances); MOTM awards: 3rd (Bolton Wanderers A), 3rd (Charlton Athletic A)

A solid month for Gunter who has clearly been improved by the return of Garath McCleary on his flank, being far more willing to get forward and support attacks. It's also noticeable that teams have stopped exploiting his side of the pitch, as became a common tactic earlier in the season.

Jamie Mackie

Average rating: 7.80 (5 appearances); MOTM awards: 1st (Bolton Wanderers A), 1st (Brighton & Hove Albion H), 2nd (Bradford City H), 3rd (Bradford City A)

There's not much more to say after seeing those highlights from March above, but here goes... Four goals in five games, including some spectacular efforts, Mackie has proven all the doubters (myself included) wrong with an almost perfect month, capped off with the third in the FA Cup Replay and a new addition to his family. If he keeps this up until the end of the season, surely he has to come back next year?

Pavel Pogrebnyak

Average rating: 6.60 (5 appearances); MOTM awards: 1st (Charlton Athletic A)

Yakubu hasn't shone since arriving in January, whilst Simon Cox has seen little playing time in March. Instead, Pog has led the line honourably, with a brace at Charlton reward for his endeavour this month. His partnership with the aforementioned Mackie has shown signs of being fruitful - let's hope they can continue to develop their understanding in the coming weeks.

Those are your four nominees - we'll announce the winner this time next week!
