The Season So Far In Numbers

So Reading FC find themselves in 19th place after 38 games with 44 points, but what are the other numbers that matter? @WilliamOwain looks through the stats to find out...

-17 - The Royals' goal difference for the second 45 minutes in matches. Only Blackpool and Birmingham are worse in the second half.

0 - Reading are the only team in the Championship to have not scored the first goal of a match in the second half. They have also only done it once between the 31st and 45th minutes.

1 - Reading's defeat to Charlton Athletic was the first time since they were relegated from the Premier League in 2013 that they have lost a game when they scored the first goal.

1.1 - The average number of headed shots per game by Pavel Pogrebnyak. Only four players have a higher average in the Championship and one of those is Glenn Murray from his loan spell at the Madejski Stadium.

1.8 - No player in the league has been dribbled past more times per game than Hope Akpan. Hence the photo at the top of this article. Sorry Hope!

2 - The Royals are one of only five teams (Blackpool, Bolton, Millwall and Rotherham being the others) that have not scored more than two goals in an away game this season.

3.5 - The average tackles per game made by Oliver Norwood. The third most in the league.

5 - The number of times both teams have scored at a league match at the Madejski Stadium, the lowest in the Championship by two.

7 - Only Blackpool have lost as many games by three or more goals. Worrying!

8.3 - The average number of headers lost per game by Pogrebnyak. Only Igor Vetokele has a higher average.

8.6 - The number of accurate long balls played per game by Norwood, the most for an outfield player in the Championship. Kevin McDonald is second with 6.8.

12 - The Royals have conceded 12 more goals than they have scored in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Only matched by Blackpool. Next worse are Birmingham and Wigan with seven.

19 or 20 - Reading's position in the league table, away table, form table, offense table and defense table. What's that about the table not lying!?

54.6 - Norwood's average passes per game. Only six players have a higher average in the Championship. The next highest average for a Reading player is Michael Hector with 44.8.

85 - The percentage for Reading losing a game when they concede the first goal: 17 times in 20 games.

87.8 - Danny Williams' pass success rate. The second highest in the Championship.

325 - The number of inaccurate long balls played by Hector. That's 20 more than Tyrone Mings and 59 more than Paul Caddis, who are second and third respectively for outfield players in the league.
