Reading have found out their provisional FA Cup fate tonight, with the draw having taken place after Arsenal's win at Manchester United. The Royals will face off against the Gunners at Wembley on the weekend of Saturday 18th April. Of course, we're still to go through the far from settled matter of a quarter final at home to Bradford City. Reading play the Bantams most likely next week, with a Monday evening match to look forward to, only 48 hours after a trip to Watford.
This is the first time that Reading have been in the draw for the semi finals of the FA Cup since 1927, when we were knocked out by Swansea City. Since then, the Royals have recently been denied another attempt first by Aston Villa at the Madejski, and then Manchester City at the Etihad.
The last time Reading faced Arsenal in the cup was two seasons ago, when the Gunners ran riot at the Madejski, winning 5-7. It's a tall order to say the least, with the North London side the strongest team still in the competition. Should Reading lose, it leaves the road wide open for Arsenal to retain the FA Cup, having won it last season.
