Welshman Gunter clattered into the youngster with the Miller's on-loan defender Danny Lafferty when competing for the ball, with Gaze sustaining a knee injury and being stretchered off of the New York Stadium pitch.

On the night - where Rotherham confirmed their Championship status for another season - 26-year-old left-back Lafferty gave his boots to the ball-boy on the night as his side celebrated their survival, with the official Rotherham website confirming that Gunter has sent his own pair to Gaze along with a get-well-soon message. The Royals' defender is said to have expressed concern about the ball-boy's condition and it appears his recovery from a knee injury is underway.

On the night, Reading succumbed to a 2-1 defeat on their first trip to the Millers' new home, with this particular incident occurring in the first-half before goals from Matt Derbyshire and Lee Frecklington gave Rotherham the points.
