Reading went to the iPro Stadium with nothing to play for except pride, and after a mid-week mauling by Rotherham it seemed that the players were already on the proverbial "beach". Oh how wrong we were - Saturday was arguably one of the best 90 minute displays of the season, and for the second time this campaign we have dashed Derby's hopes.
Starting with Skysports this week, not only do we get a good write up but a staggering 5 minutes of footage to watch. They also go on to say that we "crushed" Derby.
The BBC call Derby "sloppy" and also praise Reading (yes I know, the BBC being nice to us!) in being disciplined and dangerous going forward.
In the Independent they comment on how Reading "tore up the form book" to produce a display of surprising resolve and also that as ever Adam Federici was in stunning form .
Sportsmole give a factual report with not a lot of detail to their reaction to the game.
Looking at The Guardian, they make a scathing attack on Derby, basically saying that they were clueless. From the Reading side they give special mention to Fosu (who was outstanding).
The Daily Mail say it was a "shock home defeat" and are back with their really irritating stats video - (that you have a 15 second advert on). ESPN FC carry a similar report to everyone else, but have an interesting stats page which shows how good a game that Fosu had.
Charles Watts ends the season with the GetReading report asking the same question that we all have - where the hell has this team that played Derby been hiding all season?
Finally, looking at the club sites and Reading FC call it a "masterful performance" and say that we ended a disappointing season in fine style. Whereas the Derby site say that Derby's domination didn't pay off and they were held at bay by an impressive display from Federici.
And that brings the curtain down on the media wraps for this, my debut season. It's been fun (sometimes painful) bringing these reviews to you and hopefully the @TheTilehurstEnd will extend my contract for next season!
Have a great summer and don't forget to regularly check the website for the latest with Reading FC
C'mon urzzzzzzzzzz
