Pearce was out of contract at the Madejski Stadium and with money seemingy scarce it was always difficult to see the defender signing a new deal with Reading.
Announcing the signing, Derby Head Coach Paul Clement told the club's website.Head Coach Paul Clement said..
"Alex Pearce is an experienced central defender and we're very pleased to have him signed.
"He is strong, physical and an international footballer as well so he has lot of good qualities."
Needless to say we all wish Pearce well at his new club, although hopefully he won't have enjoyable returns against his old club.

Wimb wrote in more detail on the Republic of Ireland international here.
With Pearce gone, Michael Hector, Jake Cooper and the oft-injured Anton Ferdinand remain as the main choices for boss Steve Clarke, although the likes of Pierce Sweeney will also be hoping to get a look in during pre-season.
We'll bring you more on how the defence is shaping up in one of our State of Royal Affair pieces which will be up later this week.
So best of luck Alex and stay tuned to The Tilehurst End for plenty more reaction and analysis throughout the summer.
